What is Reiki?
To understand Reiki, it is important to first understand energy within the body. Just as the body has various types of systems within it (think respiratory system, nervous system, circulatory system, etc…) our body also contains an energy system made up of chakras.
Same as when there is a blockage in our respiratory system (think back to the last time you had a chest or sinus infection and had a hard time breathing), our energy system can become blocked. When these blockages occur, often times an individual may experience emotional or physical ailments within the body.
Reiki is the practice of working with energy. As a Reiki practitioner, we are attuned to universal life energy and act as a conduit to transfer that energy to the person wishing to receive it. We work with the energy to facilitate the release of any energy blockages and also assist in balancing the chakras. When energy within the body is flowing freely the body is given the opportunity to function at optimal performance. Receiving universal life energy helps put the receiver in a state of deep relaxation, which further facilitates the body’s natural healing process.
