A new year is upon us. In the past, the New Year was always about New Year’s Resolutions for me, but as I grow in my spiritual practice, the concept of these annual promises takes on such a deeper meaning.
I’ve learned that it’s not about making changes so that other’s accept you. It’s not about making changes because you are not good enough. It’s about recognizing your beautiful gifts and figuring out what promises you can make to yourself to grow in the upcoming year. I’ll say it again… any promises or resolutions that you make this year, let it be for YOU. Let it serve the purpose of your highest good.
I’ve always been interested in numerology, and with a new Universal Year starting tonight at midnight, I’ve been seeing more posts pop up on this topic. So what is a Universal Year? It’s a number in numerology who’s energetic traits applies to all of us. Often in numerology, the numbers are figured out for a specific individual.
How can one number and its meaning be applied to everyone? It’s because as with many things in nature, time is cyclical. Meaning the world goes through 9 yearly cycles. And when you stop to think about it, it actually makes a lot of sense. I mean, so much of our world is cyclical.
The moon cycles, the seasons cycle, women’s bodies cycle, even water cycles when it evaporates from the oceans and rains back down on us.
So how do you figure out what year we are in? It’s easy! You add up the digits in the given year and reduce it to a single number. For instance: 2019 would equal (2+0+1+9 = 12, 1+2 = 3) So we are about to enter the third year of this cycle. So what does that mean?
Well, let’s take a step back. 2017 was all about new beginnings and setting intentions. It brought with it independence and leadership and a time for self-reflection so that we could start to shift our life into the future that we see for ourselves during the next nine year cycle.
2018 was interesting because it was a combination 11/2 year. 11 is a master number that brings with it it’s own spiritual energy of self-realization, and of course 11 reduces down to a 2 which is generally about love and relationships with others. So it was an interesting combination that allowed for a perfect set up for us to focus on the energy of relationships and community and realizing how these affect us, and letting go of any parts that do not serve us and welcoming in the people that do.
So now that we’ve talked about the years leading up to 2019, we can talk about what this year has in store for us. The energies that come from a universal year 3 places its focus on creativity, expression, joy and socializing.
What does it all mean? I believe it is a call for us to build off of the last two years of energy. In the spirit of growing, always keep your intention in your heart. What intention did you set in 2017? Reassess your intention. Is it still in alignment with where you want to be, or where you want to go? Or, perhaps you are just learning about this cycle? If that’s the case, take some time to think about what you want the remaining years in this cycle to manifest for you.
In releasing toxicity and welcoming in love and community in the relationships you either released, formed or strengthened in 2018… take some time to think about how you can build on that momentum going into the New Year. Give thought to what social events you attend in 2019. Are they in alignment with your intention? Are they with the type of people you want to surround yourself with? The energy of those around you is contagious.
Now that we’ve talked about socializing in 2019, we still have expression, creativity and joy left to discuss. Let us open our arms wide and embrace these energies. My heart is swelling just thinking about them. How about you? Can you feel it?
I’ve talked so much this year about fear. Stop letting fear hold you back! There is creativity inside each and every one of us. We all have things that we can contribute to this world, it’s just that we doubt ourselves and our ability. We question whether we are good enough. But that vulnerability is what makes self-expression so damn powerful. When you can move beyond those self-limitations and open up and share your heart with others it breaks down not only your walls, but the walls of others, as well.
Joy is than able to infiltrate the cracks in those walls. You’ve set the stage to be true to yourself by releasing those old relationships. If you haven’t yet, surround yourself with people who are like minded, people who understand you. You will feel more comfortable embracing your true self. And as you have the support and encouragement from your community you will naturally allow yourself to become more vulnerable… open those creative doors and let your self-expression out. Than stand back and marvel at what you created; and be proud. Be joyful! Be everything that you want to be; for the power is within you… You just have to be unafraid to let it out.
Wishing for you all a courageous, joyous, New Year that allows you to keep growing and sharing your light with the world.
